Updated: Truck fire has Dam-B Bridge at a standstill

At 6:52 pm Friday night, Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle on fire on the US Highway 190 bridge at Dam B.
Arriving units found a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado engulfed in fire and impeding traffic on the bridge. Suppression efforts began and the fire was controlled in about 15 minutes.
The roadway was closed in both directions while the fire was extinguished and the scene investigated. The roadway remained closed for almost two hours and the vehicle was removed from the roadway by Hatch's Towing, LLC.
The vehicle was being driven by the 17 year old owner from Chireno, Texas. He reported the fire started as an electrical fire in his radio speaker box. He and others tried to extinguish it to no avail.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
BGVFD responded with Engine 11, Tanker 11, and 10 firefighters.
