Obituary of Marxanne Gay Porter August 12, 1956 - November 8, 2024
Marxanne Gay Porter is the second oldest of five children born to Charles & Joyce Gay in Port Arthur, Texas on August 12, 1956.
Known to many as Marxie, she embodied the Tolkien quote “not all who wander are lost.” Whether it be trekking to a different state for a diner that she enjoyed or visiting grandchildren in their various locations, she never shied from a journey. She found joy through her faith as a lifelong member of the Methodist Church where she most recently led the Mustard Seed program. Throughout her career as a practicing RN, Marxie worked for over thirty years close to home & family. Later, she combined her drive to help others with her sense of adventure & spent her years before retirement as a traveling nurse. She was a dedicated mother to her two children & never failed to make them feel loved & appreciated for everything they are. Known to her grandchildren as Cammy, they were her pride & joy and she always reminded them of how much she loved them.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Bruce. They stood proud as patriarch & matriarch of their family, building a foundation of strength & love that carries on through generations. Marxanne’s legacy lives on through her two children; JC & Jacque; six grandchildren, Morgan, Patrick, Serenity, Gracie, Shelby & Caleb; one great-grandchild, Emery; and, devoted companion, Terry.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or walk in the woods for a moment, one hour or a day. Time waits for no one and when you leave, give lots of hugs & kisses.
Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am prior to service.
