Newton County Sheriff said arrest has been made in recent shooting

43-year-old LaGerald Jackson has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon -Newton Co. Jail
ARREST INCIDENT OF AN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON CALL:
On November 19, 2024, at 1152 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 4216 FM 1416 in reference to someone shooting at a residence. Upon the Deputies’ arrival they made contact with the victim. The victim stated that LaGerald Jackson had shot at him while he was in the road in front of his residence. The shot struck the driver’s side of his vehicle and shattered windows on the driver’s door and back door. The victim was observed bleeding from his right forearm but refused medical attention at the scene.
Deputies made contact with the shooter, identified as LaGerald Jackson B/M, 43 YOA. Jackson did not have a weapon when Deputies made contact with him but did state that he fired at the vehicle. Jackson also had an outstanding warrant through this agency for a Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm.
Jackson was arraigned on November 20, 2024, and charged with the following offenses:
Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon PC 22.02(a)(F2)
Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm PC 22.05(b)(F-3)
Jackson’s bond was set at a combined $100,000.00. He currently remains in the Newton County Jail.
